Project #31--Sympathy Card #1

I have always found it hard to find a good and appropriate Sympathy card when I needed one. I have been working on this design for about four weeks trying to get it just right. This is the prototype. Of course, the final colors will not be red and pink.

I hate the salutations of most sympathy cards and absolutely detest the simplicity of "In Sympathy" of many card makers. I understand that it is difficult to express oneself during the increased emotions of a loss but the laziness of card makers to simply say "In Sympathy" is inexcusable.

With these thoughts in mind, this is the first of my hand cut Sympathy Cards.

Iron Craft 2014 Challenge #15--Ball Caps (Project 30)

For this challenge, we were required to embellish something. In a previous Iron Craft Challenge in 2011, I used a fabric airbrush machine to create some t-shirts and tank tops. I decided to dust off the machine to embellish some ball caps for my twin nephews' birthday in August.

I airbrushed the backgrounds and decided to embellish yet some more.  I had been given some Sharpie Oil Based fabric markers as a gift so I decided to try them out to see how well they worked. I started with basic Trucker Style hats (my nephews are turning 14).

I penciled in the lettering with a white chalk pencil and went to town. Of course, I had to practice on a hat for myself--they can't be the only ones looking NYC Urban Cool.

Although, I got a little sloppy, I am very happy with the way the hats turned out. I don't know if my nephews will actually wear them (the live in Maryland) but at least they will have something to hang in their room.

Project #29--Happy Birthday Ticket Holder

In a previous post, I shared with you the ticket holder that I made for my friend's Mother Day surprise. For this week, I needed to make a different ticket holder for a Birthday surprise for a different friend.

I have started to really start to appreciated these new script style cards.
